Star Wars Day, May 4th -- as in "May the Fourth be with you" -- came and went unheralded and unnoticed.

Cinco de Mayo, May 5th, anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla against lopsided odds, came and went unheralded and unnoticed.

There should be something in there for everybody. If you can't find something to celebrate or comment about, it's no one's fault but your own.

And for those who have to know absolutely everything, there are only eleven days left until Udo Lindenberg's birthday.

  1. Whew. The lists are interesting but it took a while to get through them. As far as The Fourth being with us that was all I saw all day that day. There was far less about the Hindenburg disaster but I did see it mentioned.

  2. According to my sources, Eadberht, bishop of Lindisfarne died on May 7th 698 and not May 6th. I have been to Lindisfarne a few times and once camped there. It is a tidal island and a special place in the ever-changing history of English civilisation. As Eadberht lay on his deathbed his breathing became shallower on the 6th and a novice monk called Bragus ran out of the abbey shouting that Eadberht was dead. But in fact Eadberht's breathing perked up and he died in the early hours of the 7th. At least, this is what my soUrces tell me.
